Antioxidants and their Healing Powers

Currently, great efforts are made to delay the aging process. While there is a great tendency in humans, to hide those wrinkles, gray hair, sagging skin, among other things, occasioned by the passage of time and as a sign that we are not so young.

But who would not want to be like 40 when in fact it is 50 years old? The answer to this question is a resounding yes. Thanks to the Cosmetic and aesthetic medicine industry this can be achieved through surgery or other surgical procedures. However, we use trying to avoid the aging of our body externally? What's inside us?

Maybe we can delay those wrinkles with botox, but we can not avoid aging at the cellular level. Just getting our cells from oxidizing or aging is what really matters, as we age from the inside out. But those who are responsible for our cells to oxidize and grow old? Those responsible are called oxygen free radicals.

Many of the ills of our health are due to the perversity of oxygen. Just as you have heared the same substance that gives life can take it away. The attacks caused by continuous reaction of oxygen contribute to clog arteries, healthy cells turn cancerous, in tightening the joints and the nervous system does not malfunction.

This new theory of oxygen has revolutionized the scientific approach to the genesis and prevention of disease. It is the most important line of research which is based on this new idea of the power of food to stop the deterioration of the body. So far science has failed to establish a relationship between the destructive reactions of oxygen and at least sixty chronic disease, like the aging process itself.

The key questions are: Why do some people wear out faster than others or, conversely, why some better resist deterioration caused by oxygen? Why do some individuals aged less quickly and seem less likely to get sick? And, obviously, what can we do to slow the destructive process?

The theory of oxygen to cause illness is not subtle. These are two colossal forces warring within us rebels oxygen molecules, called oxidants and the agency's police force, composed of the antioxidant as it says Helmut Sies, Director, Department of Physiological Chemistry, Faculty of Medicine University of Düsseldorf (Germany) and one of the most knowledgeable in the subject.

Although oxidants are beneficial and some are the product of normal metabolic processes, many others are evil invaders. This internal process occurs slowly and without pain through the years, incessant onslaught of destruction that last only a few microseconds. So goes unnoticed until the damage accumulated produces what we call disease symptoms, including swelling, loss of vision, chest pain, poor concentration and cancer.

Moreover a series of antioxidants, which enter the body mainly through food, try to protect cells scaring destructive oxygen molecules. What happens is that when bad oxidants outnumber antioxidants good and we win the game, the body goes into a high-risk known as oxidative stress.
